For the 2026 municipal and city council elections, the FDP City of Zurich has created a new digital home: on beUnity, it connects all 125 candidates, shares information centrally, and makes campaign communication noticeably easier.
The Challenge: High Communication Effort, Little Clarity
At the beginning of 2025, the FDP City of Zurich faced a familiar challenge: for the 2026 municipal and city council elections, 125 candidates across different districts — coordinated by 10 campaign managers — needed to be continuously informed about events, templates, dates, and topics from the party office.

The party wanted to ensure that everyone could be reached quickly and easily — without endless email chains or chaotic WhatsApp chats.

As the team operates under a militia system and has limited capacity, one thing was clear: they needed a solution that simply works. “We wanted a place where all information is bundled, and where we can communicate easily,” says Ron Weinstock, Managing Director of the FDP City of Zurich.
The Solution: A Dedicated Member Platform
In spring 2025, the FDP City of Zurich launched the beUnity platform. After a 30-minute kick-off with the beUnity team, a community was set up specifically tailored to the campaign: channels for districts, campaign leadership, and candidates; an overview of all meetings, events, and actions; and push notifications to ensure everyone receives updates at the same time.
By the end of August, the major rollout took place: all 125 candidates were invited and introduced in short onboarding sessions. “With a short 10-minute introduction at the start, we save many hours and a lot of frustration later,” explains project manager Naila Weber.

The approach is deliberately pragmatic — it’s not about everyone posting daily, but about ensuring that all information arrives reliably and can be easily found when needed.
The Result: Even Better Than Expected
The launch was more successful than anticipated. More candidates than expected registered, and nearly all are now active — with new members joining all the time. For the party office, this means tangible relief: information is shared only once, everyone finds it in one place, and communication has become simpler, clearer, and faster.
There’s also been more interaction than expected. District campaign managers actively use their groups and calendars to share their own events and updates. “That’s very helpful for us as the party office because it gives us a better overview and reduces coordination efforts,” says Naila Weber.

More Than Just a Campaign Tool
The first experiences are very promising. With minimal administrative effort, a central communication hub has been created for a complex election campaign.
These results show that beUnity can do much more than support an election campaign — it can also be used for the upcoming cantonal elections in 2027 or for long-term collaboration and exchange among party members.
